Who is this opportunity for?
Artists - Whether you have had a business for years or are getting started.
Business Owners - So much of what is done in business applies to or is accomplished through art. What is your business? How do you use art in your business? Could someone say you are an artist (creative, imaginative, skilled and able to think outside of the box) then fill out the form!
Students - One of the biggest challenges with College and School is that you are being taught by someone who has a lived experience very different than your own. Some teachers/professors expect their students to have to jump through every hoop that the teacher did. Some teachers/professors also act as gatekeepers and decide who is worthy of the education you need. Finally, some teachers/professors have some, well, let’s say they are blind to their own bigotry. I know that sounds harsh but as a hearing impaired singer, I’ll say it this way, only the student gets to decide how hard they are going to push past their challenges and limitations. Teachers should only be there to advise and assist…not determine the outcomes in advance.
So what if none of those classifications apply to you?
Please sit for a moment and ask yourself the following: Could what I do in business or as my career be called Art? I’m not trying to diminish the word Art or Artist, but rather explore what a world looks like where we don’t gate-keep a word like Art/Artist and force our perspective onto others.
If you are in a mutual aid type situation, I KNOW it is incredibly hard to pause and dream in the middle of panic and bill collectors. Could you find a safe space to think for just 30 minutes? If you can, what would you do if money were not an issue? What is your passion? What did it feel like to dream, when you didn’t have all the pressure and stress of today?
How about use that dream space you found in those 30 minutes and answer the questions below?
I know there are huge amounts of people in need right now and I hate it.
I also know I can’t solve it all, but I can do this. So this I’ll do to the best of my ability.Everyone: I invite anyone and everyone to fill out the form. I am going to weed out those that are obviously just mutual aid requests, but if you put in the effort to do some dreaming and really answer the questions, then I’m willing to invest the time in you. I plan to launch more in 2026 and will keep you updated on what that becomes.

Below I’ll explain what it stands for and give you a sample of the questions that are on the form.

Hand Out - money given without any expectations or questions. I think of this as the “give the man a fish” way of doing things.
Hand Up - “Teach a man to fish and he’ll have fish….” (can’t remember the rest…lol)
The point is, if you can find a way to help someone and help them help themself, I think that is a Hand Up.
Questions:
What is your business? What type of artist are you?
How would a hand up help you in your business?

What are your biggest areas of weakness?
What areas could you use a mentor in or what needs has your business run into where you wish you had someone to talk to?
I realize that looks like I’ve asked you the questions. I have a bit, but here are the samples:

What are your weak spots in your business?

Tell me about the products or services you want to offer. Not sure, tell me what makes people say “wow, you did that so easily.” What could you do for other people and get paid for it?

I realize you may think this is the same as O, but let me explain.
What is an area where you need encouragement? Do you have a poem or story that you have been writing but don’t know what to do next?
Do you make a ton of a specific craft and then have boxes of them sitting around the house?
Did you make a Covid craft and then box it up and put it into the garage?

What do you offer people in products and services?
What could you offer to sell that you already have or have done?

I will go through the entries and make sure they meet the qualifications of a)are from an artist or business owner, b) answered all of the questions and put some thought into it. (Please no AI. I really want to get to know you, not Grok.)
Those that do not get chosen for the 6th Artist will benefit though from the process and I can’t wait to tell you more, but not yet.

Donations are great! 75% of donations that come in on the site will be divided by the 6 artists.
The 25% remaining will go to Taxes, Admin and hopefully a donation to the Trumpstein Survivors.

Have you ever wanted to mentor a business owner? Have you experienced the pitfalls of being a business owner and want to help coach one that isn’t quite as far as you?
I’d love to have an event space to use for the celebration party when the Experiment ends. I can also see it growing in 2026 and would like to partner with a venue that wants the positive aspects of a partnership. I’ll do my best to make sure the negatives are limited or nonexistant. 2025 has been one hell of a year. I don’t know about you but I needed to funnel the anxiety and stress into something and so I chose Craftivism and Activism.
Craftivism: This is my attempt to use crafts, art and creativity to bring a smile to someone’s face, provide some inspiration or help them laugh out loud.
Activism: It is almost impossible to not be aware of what is happening in the USA. Those that have hidden their head in the sand are finding that it is biting them in the butt. A recent conversation included me saying something like “I don’t have the luxury of not paying attention to politics. It directly affects myself and those I love. People in my circle are at greater risk today than they were at the start of 2025.
You are in business and that takes a lot of effort and time. While I would love to invite you to join me in activism, it may need to look differently for you. How about partnering with a business that is helping to spread HOPE?
We are also going to need some mentors and people with additional experience to advise and mentor our artists. Could that be you?
You have made it as far as you have, therefore you have something you could share with someone new.
We are not a non-profit yet. We are looking at that for 2026. So, any donations are not tax write-offs, but if this year has proved anything, it is that the old way of doing business and politics isn’t working. There are new things on the horizon and I’d love to have you on the journey with us.
